Table Wine Review: 2015 Amancaya Reserve Red Blend

IMG_3358

Price: $15.99-21.99

The Basics: 85% Malbec/10% Cabernet Sauvignon blend.  Nose is vanilla and bitter chocolate.  Palate is surprisingly complex with cherry and mint undertones.  Nice dark bold body, high tannins, medium acidity.

Rating: 92 points

My take:  Really nice Malbec blend from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and the Catena family, building off their Caro line.  Wonderful balance here.  Great success at merging Bordeaux and Argentine styles.  Really great pairing with steak.

Bottom line: Super interesting red blend that is worth much more than the price.
